As early as 1974, we were designing and installing heat pumps for Walkers Crisps and went on to deliver two other UK firsts in renewable technology. With TATA Steel, we helped develop the first Transpired Solar Collectors in the UK, and with the National Trust, we designed and installed the UK’s first Open Water Source Heat Pump in the sea at Plas Newydd, Anglesey.

Since those early days, we’re still innovating every day, week and year we’re in business.

The Person

We’re looking for someone with a real ‘can-do’ attitude and a willingness to support others and the work of the team and the business as a whole. In return we’re offering a part time role that can fit around school hours as we are happy to agree hours that are either three full days per week, or as equivalent hours spread over  five days. The role could also be a different profile from one week to the next through the month if that makes it easier, it would just need to fit with monthly accounting routines.

It is based at our Bromborough Head Office and is not suitable for Work From Home.

Working Hours

Flexible hours are possible. The role is part time (three days per week – or equivalent in hours spread over a five day week).

Essential Skills / Qualifications / Attributes:

  • Qualified AAT (Level 3) Management Accountant (or suitably qualified by time served experience at this level).
  • Minimum 2years experience in a full Management Accountant role.
  • A ‘can-do’ attitude and a willingness to support others and the work of the team and the business as a whole.
  • Excellent attention to detail and a desire to get things ‘right first time’.
  • A good communicator who is will challenge things when necessary, and will ask questions when unsure.
  • Highly organised and driven individual committed to delivering excellence through great teamwork, sound decision making, with thorough and timely communications. A safe pair of hands!
  • Previous experience with any or all of Sage 50 / Sage Payroll / Sage Intacct etc or similar such accounting software as well as all the usual MS 365 Office Applications – in particular Excel, Word, Outlook, Teams and Sharepoint.
  • An approach that embraces change positively, an understanding that a business cannot stand still, and a desire to help improve systems and processes while having the patience to support and develop others as change evolves and happens over time.
  • A readiness/ability to learn new software etc as required. (The company is currently actively implementing new software systems).
  • Full alignment with our Company FIT values.

Desirable Skills:

  • Previous experience as a Management Accountant in a construction contracting business is desirable but not essential.
  • Previous experience with Construction / FM software (financial modules) such as Procore / SimPro etc is desirable but not essential.

General Statement:

The role requires a positive can-do, hands-on, pro-active approach and a highly organised nature. It requires qualities that will support and develop the already positive culture of the existing team to deliver at the highest possible level for stakeholders.   1. Production of the draft Monthly Management Accounts Pack for the Financial Controller.
  2. Producing month and year end journals.
  3. Balance Sheet account control.
  4. Assistance with year end audits.
  5. Assisting with cash-flow forecasting.
  6. Contribute to annual budgeting and planning process.
  7. Assist with credit control and debtor management.
  8. Assist with review of existing accounting systems and processes / practices and the improvement of them to ensure efficient and resilient financial operations.
  9. Prepare project job costing information for review.
  10. Ensure proper records are maintained.
  11. Liaise with and support the company operations teams as necessary – maintaining good two-way communication to ensure sound financial reporting and planning.
  12. To proactively protect the company’s commercial interests, at all times acting in the best interests of the company.
  13. To flag any issues or matters of concern to the management team in a timely manner and as appropriate.
  14. Anything else reasonably required by the business and the team in order to deliver the service that our customers need and rightly expect, understanding that working as part of a small team inevitably routinely requires a willingness to take on various other tasks that may fall outside of the scope of list above.
