The Project

Working alongside the main contractor, Marcus Worthington, Kimpton was employed to carry out a range of mechanical and electrical services on the 278 bed student accommodation project across 4 blocks.

The mechanical services provided by Kimpton included LPHW heating derived from the University of Liverpool’s district heating scheme via a plate heat exchanger located in the plantroom of block D, domestic hot water and mains cold water

Kimpton also provided a range of ventilation solutions to the buildings including Extract Ventilation where each cluster is served by a standalone central extract unit running in low speed mode. Each ensuite and kitchen is connected to the fan via PVC flat ducting, if high humidity is detected then the fan will run in boost mode to increase extract air flow until the humidity level drops. The kitchen extract cooker hoods are ducted separately to the outside. Air conditioning is provided to the communal areas and common room areas and dry risers have been installed in each of the four blocks. Smoke Ventilation systems have been provided to two of the stairs and two to the smoke shafts.

Kimpton also provided a range of electrical services which included Main Switchboard and LV power distribution, Small Power, Lighting and Emergency Lighting, CCTV and Access systems, IT/Data installation, Fire Detection system and external lighting
