FUTURE NOW is Future Yard CIC’s annual two-day celebration of the best emerging new music, building on the legacy of their first festival in 2019. For 2024, we’re proud to announce that Kimpton are Front Row Sponsors.
The festival has grown in scale and ambition over the years and this year will welcome over 3,000 attendees across the two days 24-25th August 2024 at multiple venues across Birkenhead. These include Birkenhead Town Hall as the main stage, the Future Yard Live Room and Future Yard Garden.
To fill these venues, there are over 50 artists booked, with Everything Everything as the Saturday Town Hall headliner and Nadine Shah closing the show at the Town Hall on Sunday. There’s live music from midday through until 2am on both days.
We’re proud to announce that Make CIC Hamilton will act as the festival hub and wristband exchange. Our full commercial fit out will be completed by the end of July, in plenty of time for the festival. It will be a great opportunity for Make to have so many people visiting, so soon after opening.
It’s not just about the music however, and it’s been designed as a festival for music lovers and discoverers, Future Now will see Birkenhead brought to life with musical performances, art exhibitions, local food and drink and more.
For 2024 Wirral is the Borough of Culture for the Liverpool City Region, marking an incredible year of culture and creativity, with Future Now as a flagship event. We’re proud to work so closely with Future Yard, Make CIC and support art and culture so close to home.
Birkenhead as a town is overflowing with confidence right now and why shouldn’t it? It has great architecture, the green space of Hamilton Square, a waterfront with stunning views of Liverpool and the transport links to get there. The regeneration of the town is being driven by the arts and culture sector which we’ve seen this happening locally in the Baltic Triangle and across the UK in places as far afield as Margate and Bristol.
As Future Yard keep telling us; “The Future is Birkenhead” and we agree with them 100%.
Claire McColgan CBE, Director of Culture for Liverpool City Council summed this up beautifully this week in an article she wrote on linkedin when she said.
“Culture is a banker of an investment. It drives the economy, increases positive health and wellbeing, makes places more appealing for visitors and investors, gives communities a platform to tell their stories and crucially injects some joy into our lives.
For the past 14 years, Liverpool has had a Labour council, and culture has been the backbone of our renaissance, the rocket fuel for regeneration. Our visitor economy, creative industries, student retention and international brand are booming and are all built on our cultural commitment.” You can see the rest of that piece here. It’s well worth a read.
There’s also a great video from last years event that you can see here.
