Kimpton help prepare the next generation for life after education

Kimpton Energy Solutions is a key member of the Wirral Chamber of Commerce and were invited to be one of only 12 patrons of the Young Chamber, a new initiative aimed at bridging the gap between education and business, when it was launched in November 2015.

Research made by the British Chambers of Commerce highlighted a growing gap between education and work and that young people needed more support to make the transition from education and into business.

Young Chamber supports young people preparing for work and provides the opportunity for pupils to talk directly to potential employers to help make decisions about future careers. It provides an understanding of the skills employers are looking for, and offers unique insights into how businesses work, enabling valuable skills, knowledge and experience to complement academic qualifications

As well as attending regular events, Kimpton Energy Solutions and the other patrons’ roles are to provide help and information to schools and their pupils on all aspects affecting their careers including interview techniques, CV creation, choosing the right industries and job roles for their skills and what to expect in the workplace.

In February, Kimpton attended an event at South Wirral High School for pupils entering their final stage of school education providing career and further development advice for those looking at pursuing a career in Energy and Building Services Sectors and through the event, helped many pupils understand the great opportunities available in the sector.

Alex Jones, Young Chamber Enterprise Advisor said , “Young Chamber is committed to supporting the development, expertise and innovation of Wirral’s future workforce, and as such we work closely with our education providers in creating an environment where both schools and students can benefit from the knowledge and guidance of businesses in Wirral.’’

She added,” We have found that the business community is very willing to share their experience and to provide the support which will turn today’s young students into the entrepreneurs and, potentially, the successful business owners of tomorrow.”

Kimpton also attended the Your Future Careers Event at the Floral Pavilion in New Brighton on the15th March 2016 organised through The Young Chamber and will be running a work placement program in the summer for pupils from St Johns Plessington School.
