Lesson Planning with Prenton High School

As Enterprise Advisors, Grace Roberts, Niamh Smith and Matt Breakwell have been working with schools to explain to students the range of opportunities available in construction, sign-post career pathways and encourage more young women to consider a career in Building Services Engineering.

One of the ways we’ve done this is by teaming up with Charlotte Lawrence from the Liverpool City Region Careers Hub and Charlotte Goode from Prenton High School for Girls to support the Teacher Encounters programme, which aims to connect teachers with businesses across England to boost collaboration and improve young people’s career opportunities and better prepare them for life beyond education.

The programme provides teachers with the opportunity to learn about the different career pathways relevant to their subjects and help their students build a deeper understanding of the essential skills they need for different roles.

Working with the school and the Careers Hub, we’ve helped develop a lesson plan for Key Stage 3 English in the world of work, which relates directly to the role of Business Development at Kimpton and includes a simplified example of how persuasive writing is used when tendering for work.

The lesson plan has been designed to prepare Prenton High School students for GCSE English Language as well as show the students how the skills they are learning at school will one day transfer to the world of work.

The lesson plan is now available to schools across the Liverpool City Region and can be found on the Liverpool City Region Careers Hub website!
