As SCA Hygiene Products double production capability at their Skelmersdale facility and create 100 new jobs for the North West, Kimpton Acoustic Engineering is proud to be associated with the plant expansion.
An integral part of the process in paper mills and paper conversion mills are the vacuum pumps. Utilised for de-watering the paper and conditioning the felt the vacuum pumps also generate significant noise which the production personnel need to be protected from. As specialists in the design, manufacture and installation of acoustic enclosures Kimpton Acoustic Engineering have been employed to provide a purpose built noise enclosure to house the seven new vacuum pumps.
The fully ventilated, freestanding enclosure will reduce noise levels from the vacuum pumps to no more than 60dB(A) outside of the enclosure. Due to its modular construction, the 9.5m long, 4.4m wide enclosure was easily transported to site in ‘flat pack’ form facilitating a quick installation on site.
Bob Jones, Acoustic Sales Manager for Kimpton said “Our decades of experience working in manufacturing facilities, delivering noise reducing structures enables us to provide acoustic solutions for almost any application.” Bob continued, “This is our second project for SCA in the North West this year with our first project being to acoustically treat Turbo-Blowers at their Trafford Park facility”.
