Kimpton Service and Maintenance are pleased to announce that we have secured the ongoing maintenance contract at University Church of England Academy in Ellesmere Port.
UCEA is a secondary school based in Ellesmere Port, Cheshire that was created back in 2009 by the merger of Cheshire Oaks High School and Ellesmere Port Specialist School of Performing Arts. In 2012 the school moved to a single campus at Whitby Road, Ellesmere Port.
The school, which is part of the University of Chester Academies Trust welcomes over 500 students to the new state of the art building and was designed from the outset to reduce energy consumption. Contributing towards their low energy consumption they have installed efficient air handling equipment and heat generation from low carbon gas absorption heat pumps, backed up by highly efficient condensing gas boilers. Gas absorption heat pumps (GAHP) are relatively new to the market but making a big impact.
A gas absorption heat pump, which is also known as an air-source heat pump (as opposed to the more well-known ground source system), works by capturing and converting energy from the ambient air around us. It’s inner workings are not easy to explain in a few lines, but they use natural gas as the input energy rather than the more expensive electricity. Here’s a diagram to explain it.
The big advantage is that they can operate as much as 150% more efficiently than a conventional gas boiler and as such, the savings in ongoing running costs are significant as well as the reduction in carbon produced. With rising energy costs and increasing demands for greener energy, this is very much a win-win for UCEA.
All of these require ongoing maintenance to retain their respective efficiencies and this is where Kimpton’s Maintenance Team come in. Our role will be to ensure that through an agreed planned preventative maintenance programme, we ensure that the systems continue to function as designed and we absolutely minimise the risk of breakdown or failure of the systems into the longer term.«Back to Blog
The installation will improve the comfort conditions in several areas of the school servicing both pupils and staff. We are very experienced in undertaking projects in these conditions were flexibility and careful scheduling is key and this was crucial to our appointment on this contract.
We have been using TKR Services since their inception and during that time they proved to be not only commercially competitive, but also, looking from an Engineers point of view they have strived to provide the highest quality work.
The Plaza is a showpiece building for Bruntwood in Liverpool and we have since made it our own headquarters in the city. To reflect this, we needed to ensure that the fit out was of the highest quality, whilst maintaining the high levels of service our tenants expect from Bruntwood.
