Industry Week with Wirral Met College and Morgan Sindall

As part of Industry Week, organised by Wirral Met College and in conjunction with Morgan Sindall Construction, this week we delivered two sessions with current students, talking about life and progress within the Building Services industry.

Greg Percival, Kimpton Electrical Contracts Supervisor, talked about his career path. Working through an apprenticeship to explaining how he is working on a new school build and the refurbishment of the Capital Building.

Anthony Whittle, Kimpton Mechanical Contact Supervisor, also came through an apprenticeship route and told the story of how, by the age of 26, he was part of the team managing multi-million Pound projects as far afield as Sheffield, Canterbury and Coventry.

The sessions featured lively Q&A’s with students – All delivered via Teams online, with our own Matt Breakwell acting as host and compere. The spirit of Larry Grayson in his Generation Games days lives on strongly in Matt. 🙂

Each of the presenters shared very open and honest biographies that were well received by the students.

There’s an awful lot of effort that goes into preparing for these types of presentation, which isn’t always noticed or appreciated, but the groups today seemed to really get something from it. What was also interesting from our own perspective was seeing the pride in both Greg and Anthony in talking about their route into work and the scale of projects they’re now part of.
