Kimpton are proud to have been chosen by Watkin Jones Group to deliver a project in Glasgow which will become Scotland’s tallest residential building.
The Àrd (meaning “high” in Gaelic) is a major mixed-use redevelopment at the site of the former Portcullis House in Glasgow’s Charing Cross
Our specialist High-Rise Residential MEP Division are undertaking a £6.2 design and build mechanical installation, including sprinkler system, wet risers, air conditioning, drainage water and a centralised air source heat pump.
The project consists of two buildings: a 36-storey tower reaching approximately 114 metres and a smaller 10-storey building.
It will provide 784 purpose-built student accommodation (PBSA) beds, featuring a mix of ensuite cluster rooms and individual studios.
Our design team have been progressing the building’s BREEAM Excellent design since September 2025 and are due to start on site in April.
