Our apprenticeships typically take two different routes, depending on whether you want to train for a role on site, or an office-based role.
The pathway to our site-based roles such as Mechanical and Electrical Installation Engineers, HVAC Service Engineers, Site Supervisors, Team Leaders etc, is via a Craft Apprenticeship;
Duration: 4 Years
Start date: September 2024
Requirement: Minimum age 18 with a Technical Diploma in Plumbing or Electrical Engineering level 3.
Local colleges offering these courses at 16 include Wirral Met, City of Liverpool College, Hugh Baird, Riverside College and Warrington & Vale Royal College.
You will spend the equivalent of four days working with our team on-site and one day at college. College studies may be on day release or block release depending on which department you join.
The pathway to our office-based roles such as Project Managers, Design Engineers, Estimators etc is via a Technical Apprenticeship;
Duration: 2 years
Start date: September 2024
Requirement: Minimum age 18 with a T Level Building Services Engineering for Construction (preferred) or one A-Level
Duration: 5 years
Start date: September 2024
Requirement: Minimum age 18 with a T Level Building Services Engineering for Construction (preferred) or two A-Levels (inc.Maths, Physics, Chemistry or Biology)
You will spend four days working with our team and one day at City of Liverpool College or Liverpool John Moore’s University during term time.
The rates we pay are agreed by industry trade bodies and unions and are considerably more than the national minimum wage for apprentices – around 40% higher – and all training costs are paid by us so there’s no student debt!
Our application process opens every year during February and closes at the end of May.
Recruitment is currently CLOSED as Applications are now closed for 2024.
Our selection process involves an interview followed by a week of practical experience working with the team on one of our projects during the summer holidays.
From this we will offer roles to the candidates who stand out in their personal fit, ability and suitability for the role for them to come on board in the September, ready to start for the new college term.

“I knew of Kimpton growing up, as my family worked in the construction industry. I joined them as an Apprentice Pipe Fitter when I was sixteen. It was a four year block release apprenticeship which suited me well as you went to college for six, two week blocks per year and the rest of the time you were on site putting what you’d learnt into practice.
I now have an NVQ Diploma in Industrial and Commercial Heating and Ventilation Engineering, Levels two and three, as well as my First Aid and Site Supervisors Certs, so my learning has continued. Read More

Grace joined the Kimpton Contracts team, initially in a business administration and sales support role but it soon became apparent that she had a strong technical capability and later the same year started an HNC to become a Mechanical Estimator. Upon graduation she was promoted to the role of Estimator and now works day to day on multi-million pound projects. She also volunteers as Liverpool City Region’s youngest Enterprise Advisor supporting Prenton High School for Girls, amongst others, to change percep[tions of women in construction. Read More.

Chris joined Kimpton in January 2002. In his own words “I’d worked at Burley Dam Garden Centre since I was around 15 and this led me to study Landscape Gardening at Reaseheath, but my heart just wasn’t in it. So, I applied for and later offered an apprenticeship with Kimpton. ”
He can proudly claim that during his apprenticeship with Kimpton, he won the National Apprentice of the Year Award in 2004. Read More.
