Kimpton Joins The Chartered Institute of Building (CIOB)

Last week, our Managing Director, Tim Davis, and Construction Operations Director, Scott Bennett, attended the CIOB awards in London as Kimpton became a member of The Chartered Institute of Building (CIOB).

For us, it reflects the growth of a Construction Division that has developed naturally from the needs of our customers.

For more than 60 years, Kimpton has been known for delivering mechanical and electrical engineering projects. Alongside that, our specialist acoustic engineering business, delivering complex projects on major energy infrastructure all over the UK.

Over time, however, clients increasingly asked us to take responsibility for more than just the MEP package. Many refurbishment, fit-out and decarbonisation projects are driven by building services. In commercial environments, the MEP element can often account for the majority of the project’s complexity, cost and risk. Yet clients were still having to appoint multiple contractors and manage the interfaces between them.

What they wanted was simple: one contractor, one programme, one point of accountability.

As demand grew, our acoustic and specialist construction teams increasingly supported MEP-led projects, helping us deliver complete refurbishment and fit-out solutions. Following our management buyout in 2024, we formalised that capability through the creation of our dedicated Construction Division.

Today, we’re delivering refurbishment, fit-out, EPC upgrade and decarbonisation projects across commercial, healthcare, hospitality, education and public sector buildings, often in complex live environments where disruption simply isn’t an option.

Our integrated approach means we retain direct control of the most technically demanding elements of a project rather than subcontracting them, giving clients greater certainty over programme, quality and outcomes.

As the demand for decarbonisation and low-carbon building upgrades continues to grow, we believe that integration of construction and MEP expertise will become increasingly important.

When your building can’t afford to fail. Count on Kimpton.
