Girls in Construction Summit – Warrington and Vale College

Two of the Kimpton team were delighted to support our client Warrington & Vale Royal College at their ‘Girls in Construction Summit 2024’.

Grace Roberts and Niamh Smith met with 72 Year 10 girls from six secondary schools across Cheshire and Warrington who were there to find out more about careers in construction from female industry professionals.

Grace, who has recently graduated as a Building Services Engineer, talked about her role as a mechanical estimator, sign-posted the career pathways and highlighted the excellent salaries on offer in the industry.

Grace and Niamh both volunteer as Enterprise Advisors for the Liverpool City Region Careers Hub where they are working with schools to explain the range of opportunities available and encourage more young women to consider a career in construction.

As young women starting out in their construction careers, Grace and Niamh are able to facilitate frank discussions about why girls might not think the industry is for them and challenge the perception that it’s not all #menandmuddyboots!

Warrington & Vale also posted their own story about the day too.
