Safe decommissioning and recommissioning of mechanical and electrical plant, alongside MEP and refurbishment projects across Liverpool, Wirral, North Wales and the North West.
When we take on an MEP installation or a refurbishment, clients often ask us to decommission and recommission plant at the same time to enable the other works that need to happen. It’s a natural extension of what we already do, taking existing plant safely out of service and bringing new or upgraded plant online, in step with the wider project.
For the client, this means one point of contact and one team managing the project, the timescales and the quality of the work throughout, from the first isolation to final commissioning and handover.
Decommissioning and recommissioning plant is one of the higher-risk phases of any refurbishment or MEP upgrade. Systems need to be safely isolated, drained and made safe before anything is removed, and the replacement or upgraded plant needs to be tested and handed over with the right documentation before anyone can rely on it. When these two stages are split between different contractors, isolations and commissioning records can end up incomplete or hard to trace.
We manage both ends of that process ourselves, so the same team that isolates and removes the old plant installs, tests and commissions the new. That continuity keeps the paperwork consistent, keeps disruption to an absolute minimum on live or occupied sites, and gives you a single point of accountability from first isolation to final handover.
– Safe isolation and draining down of mechanical, electrical and process plant
– Disconnection of pipework, ductwork, cabling and controls
– Removal and environmentally compliant disposal of redundant plant, including boilers, chillers, AHUs, pumps and tanks
– Management of associated hazards, including asbestos-aware removal and confined space access
– Isolation and capping of redundant gas, fuel and water supplies
– Temporary or bypass systems to maintain services during the changeover
– Installation, connection and commissioning of new or replacement plant
– System testing, water treatment and balancing
– BMS and controls integration and commissioning
– As-built documentation, O&M manuals and handover certification
Whether it’s decommissioning a single item of plant or a full changeover across a plant room, we plan the works around the MEP programme so nothing holds up the work that follows.
