Packaged Plant Rooms

The Plug and Play solution to dramatically simplify plant room upgrade or replacement in almost any environment

Our packaged plant rooms can  be made to any shape, size or capacity. They were developed as a means of providing a plant room, with the fit-out completed off-site out ready to ‘plug and play’ on-site. This will dramatically reduce the installation time and mitigate the risk from asbestos in older plant rooms – which is a growing problem.

These bespoke plant rooms can be used to house electrical and gas boiler plant. They can even be used to house heat pumps, with the pumps themselves fitted to the roof and the plant for running them, inside the unit. They are entirely flexible and can be the perfect solution for a range of applications from smaller schools to large office or residential developments and everything in between.

Inside the Packaged Plant Room for Welburn Hall School North Yorkshire

There is an increasing issue for schools and office developments requiring plantroom upgrades and asbestos. With the need for asbestos mitigation in the old plant room, cost can quickly become prohibitive. Our packaged plant system is almost plug and play, allowing the new plant room to connect into the existing pipework within the school. You can see that in action here on the plant room replacement project for Cardinal Newman School. It’s a much needed efficiency upgrade, reduces carbon emissions dramatically and means almost zero disruption to staff and pupils on site.

We have the capability and facilities to design and manufacture bespoke containers to house a variety of mechanical plant and electrical equipment, all designed to be lifted by crane. The ‘plant room in a box’ is an ideal solution for both refurbishment and new build projects. Our solution allows for the quick and easy replacement of existing plant with new more efficient low carbon technologies such as heat pumps or biomass boilers.

Providing a cost-effective solution to having to build a new plant room on site our packaged plant will also assist in reducing construction programme times.

We recently designed and installed a series of packaged plant rooms for a district housing scheme in Aberdeen. It’s the latest of a whole series of these that we have created.

This latest unit is self-contained and has been designed to enclose eight gas-fired boilers, each of 150kW capacity, giving 1.2mW in total. They will provide heat for two large housing blocks, Fullerton and Murray Court. Whilst gas boilers are not inherently noisy in our everyday lives, if there were eight of them firing outside your bedroom window, in the dead of night, the noise would become a problem.
