The project will see the redevelopment of the former Technology Campus of Leeds University, situated in the heart of the city’s university area in Woodhouse into Purpose Built Student Accommodation (PBSA). The site is just a stones throw away from our other current Leeds project – the GMI Carlton Hill, Leeds – 600 bed PBSA scheme.

It is being built on a constricted plot, that sits within the triangular space bounded by Cookridge St, Vernon St and Woodhouse Lane as well as adjacent conservation areas.

The project will see the construction of a high quality student accommodation development comprising 514 units in a mixture of studios and cluster apartments, and commercial units on the Ground Floor. There will also be a shared Gym, Cycle Storage and Student Amenity spaces within the lower ground & ground floor Levels.

There is a new build 19-storey tower with a common roof spaces for residents on floor seven. It’s built on a part existing basement structure, where much of the boiler plant will be housed in a new purpose built boiler room.

The façade has been designed using pre-cast reconstituted stone and will incorporate PV panels on the roof as part of its renewable energy strategy.

On the mechanical side our work will include all heating and hot water, drainage (foul and rainwater), incoming water supply, air conditioning, domestic water services, ventilation, `BMS system, domestic services water treatment plant and dry riser installation.

In addition, the team will be plumbing in all of the pod style bathrooms that have been chosen for the project.

On the electrical side, it’s everything you’d expect from a full electrical installation. This includes initial temporary supply to power the cranes and light the site for working. In addition, we’ll be delivering all of the CCTV, wifi and data provision, fire protection, internal and external lighting and power provision throughout.

The team are already on site and we will share more updates as we progress. Here are some of the CGI’s from the architect, DLA Architecture.
