The City of Liverpool College M&E Services Contract Award

We’re delighted to announce that Kimpton have been awarded The City of Liverpool College‘s Mechanical & Electrical Engineering contract following a competitive tender process.

The appointment builds on a relationship between our organisations that goes back more than 30 years. During that time, more than 100 Kimpton apprentices have trained at the College, alongside many placement students, T Level learners and graduates who have gone on to join the business.

One of those apprentices was Phillip Morgan. Phil completed his apprenticeship training at The City of Liverpool College and won the HVCA Apprentice of the Year Award in 1995. More than 30 years later, he is still with Kimpton as our Air Conditioning Services Manager and is involved in managing the College’s HVAC systems today.

More recently, Joel Breen joined Kimpton after completing a Building Services Engineering T Level at the college and went on to receive the Alfred Leung Award for Excellence in Building Services Engineering. Sam Kerr was named Apprentice of the Year by the college at Downtown’s Livercool Awards, while former apprentice Grace Roberts has progressed into our estimating team.

The new contract builds on work we already undertake for the College through our existing air conditioning maintenance contract and minor works framework appointments. Additional social value commitments made include hosting T Level work placements and providing our expertise to support the refurbishment of the College’s Plumbing & Gas Training Workshop.

Like any long-standing relationship, it has changed over time. In the early days, apprentices would join Kimpton as school leavers and we’d send them to the College as part of their training. Today, we recruit students graduating from the College’s NVQ Level 3 and T Level Plumbing and Electrical programmes.

We are proud of our long-standing partnership with The City of Liverpool College and look forward to building on that relationship in the years ahead.
