In May 2024, Liverpool was named as the UK’s best large city for a short break in a survey by the consumer group Which?
Having surveyed nearly 4,000 of their members about their experiences of visiting UK cities and towns in the last two years, Liverpool rightly came out on top.
The criteria included cultural sights, places to stay, eat and drink, getting around and value for money. All things I think we know our city does brilliantly. And that’s before the legendary Liverpool Welcome.
For us, this is in part due to the Liverpool City Region Tourism Awards which have worked to raise the bar on every aspect of our cultural, hospitality and tourism offer.
It’s also directly related to the incredible cultural events the city has landed. With Claire McColgan CBE and her team delivering the Giants, Eurovision 24 and River of Light to name but a few. Working together as a united city to create unique, compelling reasons for people to visit, stay over for a short break and come back time and time again.
Few other cities – if any – work in this same joined up way so consistently.
So, we are delighted to be the sponsor of the Ethical, Responsible and Sustainable Tourism Award at the 2024 Liverpool City Region Tourism Awards.
We’re passionate about delivering social value and equally passionate about being part of the solution to getting the city to net zero, by 2030.
So, it’s a huge well done to Future Yard CIC, Liverpool Philharmonic, Liverpool Properties, National Trust, NORD, Sunnyside Guest House Southport, The Eden Warehouse and the Titanic Hotel for doing so much work to even become finalists.
And the very best of luck from all of us to whichever one becomes the eventual winner.
