Abbot’s Lea School is a maintained special school that provides high quality education for over 270 students aged 3-19 who are living with Autism and a range of associated communication, interaction, social, imagination, sensory and learning differences.
With a team of nearly 140 staff, they aim to provide the best education and care to their students and support to their families and the wider community. The School buildings consist of a main teaching block constructed in 2000, a central “house” admin building constructed around 1900 and extended in 1960, and a standalone single storey building constructed for KS3 from around 2015.
Our job is to replace both the Fire Alarm System and the Emergency Lighting systems throughout the school site.
The project will be delivered over the summer holiday break at the school to minimise disruption to pupils and staff.
The purpose of the project is to update existing life safety systems within Abbot’s Lea School. The systems to be upgraded include emergency lighting and fire alarm systems in order to offer an L2 fire alarm system and emergency lighting system that complies with BS5266 and the other relevant standards.
This is to ensure that any danger to life from fire can be quickly identified and occupants can evacuate the buildings quickly and safely.
Our work will comprise of installing new panels, sounders, and enhanced fire standard wiring for the systems throughout. The emergency lighting also includes LED floods around the outside of the school in order to meet the latest standards.
As with all projects of this nature, we will complete builders and decorative work to finalise the project after the installation to ensure it all looks good as well as operates to the agreed specification.
