Kimpton were appointed on this refurbishment project at Hunts Cross Medical Centre. As part of the project, our in-house design team were engaged to create high-quality solutions to the existing problems being experienced within the facility due to an ageing MEP infrastructure.
The Contract Manager overseeing the project from Kimpton was Chris Tolley, with a wealth of experience in managing projects. Chris’s expertise in providing an effective link between the Kimpton site team and senior client staff was invaluable in ensuring quality communication throughout, including attendance at periodic review meetings. There was a team of four engineers and a Site Supervisor from Kimpton too.
A key challenge on this contract revolved around the legislative requirements governing installation works on health care facilities, in particular the HTM04 guidelines. For this reason, the involvement of the Kimpton design team was invaluable in ensuring that agreed final system designs were fully compliant with the requirements of these guidelines, thus negating the need for rectification works following building inspections and our internal work audit process.
Kimpton ensured that the final installation was fully vetted and approved by an external, independent assessor to make sure that certification for the system was achieved.
Kimpton assumed the role of Principal Contractor on the project for the purposes of compliance with the CDM Regulations. A Construction Phase Plan was created to overarch the project from a programme, risk management and general health and safety perspective. Our team created a full set of risk assessments and method statements to cover the whole scope of works and the result was a zero tally for incidents and near misses throughout the project.
