Client: Watkin Jones Construction
Site: The Tannery – Bath Lane, Leicester (PBSA)
Project: Mechanical Building Services
Value: £3.2m
Project Manager: Paul Davies
The project is a development of a 2-acre site between All Saints Road and Jarvis Street in Leicester, with a series of buildings that range in height from five to eight storeys.
Our work included all of the mechanical services which cover the plant room, all ventilation and air conditioning, soil and waste installation, dry risers, hot and cold water throughout and the sprinkler system. There was an NVHR system installed too.
Our work was on phase two and three of the development, that consist of 462 student bedrooms and 184 BTR rental units with the addition of ground floor flexible commercial space.
The Tannery is just a 6 mins walk from DMU, 25 mins walk from The University of Leicester and all the shops, restaurants and pubs that the city has to offer.
The space is designed to encourage socialisation with friends, and includes a TV and games area and a large landscape courtyard. PLUS, there’s a multimedia room available to enjoy a movie on the big screen or use the space to work out.
The need to work has not been forgotten and there’s also a dedicated mezzanine floor area for study with break out areas for group study sessions.
The bedrooms are designed with student living in mind. All en suite rooms come with plenty of storage, a dedicated work area and a small double bed, with a shared kitchen and living area to enjoy time together with flatmates. The larger, self-sufficient studios offer a bit more privacy with fully-equipped mini-kitchen.
