Travelodge was the first budget hotel brand to launch in the UK back in 1985 and plans to operate 70,000 rooms by 2020. This 141-room waterfront hotel in Liverpool had its own challenges, being constructed on The Strand in a very densely built up area on one of the main through-routes in Liverpool.
The challenge for Kimpton was not only to design and install high quality M&E services on time and within budget but overcome the inherent challenges of the location and very tight site on which the hotel sits.
Kimpton provided a full design and install of the heating to all the bedrooms, air conditioning and ventilation in the hotels reception and café/bar areas, including domestic water services and drainage systems. The ventilation to the bedrooms incorporates natural air intake supplemented with a mechanical extract system. Full electrical services were also provided including mains distribution, lighting, fire alarm, disabled refuge, lightning protection and UPS supply to the lifts.
“This was a very high profile project in Liverpool that transformed a neglected corner of the waterfront, ensuring that it was lifted to a building of the same standard as surrounding buildings. All of the contractors on the job were handpicked for their experience, the skills and knowledge they could bring to the project and their proven ability to deliver a quality result on time and within budget. Kimpton ticks all of these boxes which is why we were confident in appointing them.”
