The Dock Office is a landmark building that sits on the Trafford Road in Salford Quays. Built in 1925 and designed by Harry Fairhurst and Son, it has a grade II listed status. It’s a classic piece of Art Deco design and sits beside the original arched gateway into the docks themselves.
The building was purpose-built for the Manchester Ship Canal Company to be home to the office and administration of the Salford Docks.
Working with the developer, our brief was to deliver a mix of 1, 2, 3 and 4 bedroom apartments, including a contemporary designed two-storey roof extension to the building.
We were responsible for the full M&E package across the development. on the mechanical side, this included all of the domestic hot water systems throughout, a new external cold water tank with all of the associated insulated pipework. This had an additional chlorination unit added too,
On the ventilation side, new mechanical ventilation with heat recovery was installed and air conditioning for the common and upper spaces.
Sanitaryware for the bathrooms was specified to a very high standard to match the quality of finish throughout. New drainage above and below ground was also installed.
On the electrical side, the specification was equally high with Cat 5 cabling throughout, CCTV with 16 way monitoring, Sky+ TV throughout all of the apartments, fire detection systems, lightning and surge protection, emergency lighting, plus car park and common space lighting.
Within the apartments, there were electric heaters installed and all of the light and power systems and an individual intercom for access control and even access control for the cycle store.
The project was completed in March 2017 and as you can see from the images here, was delivered to an exceptional standard.
