Overview

In this project, we installed 122 kWp of Commercial Solar PV on the roof of the Genesis Business centre in Stoke on Trent. The Genesis Centre is a state of the art serviced office centre offering a range of office suites to let in Stoke on Trent.

The Centre is one of four Northern Trust Business Centres, and has been specifically designed to encourage new start up businesses and support small and medium sized enterprises looking for flexible office accommodation.

As part of a wider decarbonisation programme, we installed 122kWp of Solar PV to reduce the overall carbon impact and cut ongoing energy bills.

The figures

Every Solar PV project is different and presents slightly different challenges. This project gave us options with roof aspects facing both south and south west. The greatest return for Solar PV is on the south facing aspect and this was filled with the installation of first 100 panels, along with the south westerly aspect for the remaining 168. The 12 degree roof pitch also works well.

There were 268 panels installed to give a total system size of 122 kWp and it has been designed to produce around 103MWh per annum.

Project Management

The project was managed by Greg Percival who said “This project ran very smoothly and ran exactly to schedule and plan. The software we use these days to make these predictions is so accurate, it will be within a few MWh at the end of the first year or two”
