The student accommodation market is centred around the September student intake, so when Unite acquired a prime site in Liverpool next to Lime Street railway station, development of the 13 storey, 1,200 bed ‘Grand Central’ scheme the first phase was scheduled to take just thirteen months.
Kimpton Building Services was hired by main contractor, David McLean Construction, to complete the mechanical & electrical installation of 1,200 ensuite bathrooms with 400 kitchen areas. A detailed plan had already been put in place by the design & build contractor, but Kimpton was able to advise on the specification of the units to help speed up the fit out process and help the project remain within budget.
The company also fitted mains boosters to maintain constant water pressure.
