The Project

Following their Microgeneration Certification Scheme (MCS) accreditation Kimpton Energy Solutions introduced a number of energy saving initiatives at their head office in Bromborough.

In July 2012 an area of 65m2 of roof space was fitted with 10kWpk of Solar PV Panels which have an estimated payback of 7 years. This was followed up with the installation of LED lighting throughout the building along with PIR control of the lighting in open plan offices, corridors, kitchen areas and WC’s.

With a number of areas internal to the building and without direct natural light, Sun Tubes have been installed in some of these areas so as to reduce the level of artificial light required.

In the years since the Solar PV system was installed it has generated over 86,000 kW of electrical energy.

Richard Kimpton, Managing Director said:

“As we have been advising our clients for many years on being energy efficient, it was time to put into practice what we preach.

There were two key drivers to implementing these initiatives, firstly to reduce our actual energy consumption and secondly our investment in Solar PV was a major step into reducing our energy costs.

Energy prices can only increase in the future and like all businesses, in order to ensure we remain competitive, we have to address the issue of constantly increasing utility costs.”
