As part of their drive to reduce their carbon footprint and save money on energy consumption the school committed to upgrading their heating system.
A 350kW pellet fired biomass boiler was installed as the primary source of heating and connected into the existing primary heating system. The existing control system was modified to accept the Biomass Boiler as the lead boiler, with the additional heating load picked up by the existing gas fired boilers in the winter months.
The Biomass system complete with pellet bag silo and 4,000 litre buffer tank was installed within a purpose built plantroom to house the new plant.
