Rochdale National Grid Transformer

Rochdale National Grid Transformer

Project Details

The Client: National Grid
Customer: Morgan Sindall
Service: Acoustic Enclosure
Project Completion: February 2013

The Project

Kimpton were employed by Morgan Sindall to assist them in meeting the noise emissions criteria set out in the planning permission for the replacement transformer.

A noise impact assessment determined that an insertion loss of 20dB @ 100Hz was required for the new transformer to alleviate the potential noise disturbance to local residents.

Kimpton Acoustics designed, manufactured and erected a new acoustic enclosure. As this is a live site and the new transformer was a replacement the enclosure had to be erected within a 2 week period. Along with housing the transformer the new enclosure had to accommodate a deluge system in the case of fire.
